We're starting a new series: Pictures of Jesus; King, Priest, Prophet.

We are fortunate to have several professors from an area Bible college that attend Eastview. So we pulled together a series of videos called "Ask the Professor," were each prof will address some historical, theological issues as they relate to Kings, Priests and Prophets in the Bible.

All three videos were shot on campus in a sitting nook just outside of the gym. And all three were essentially one take shots with a second handheld camera for cutaways. You've gotta love teleprompters.....

The first week is Brian Johnson, good friend and Professor of New Testament (he really geeks out on the writings of John). Take a look and get ready for a little intertestamental Maccabean history as well....

Easter Video

Wow, it was a fantastic day of worship yesterday! How good it is to gather as a body and celebrate the resurrection of the Christ.

As we began to plan the Easter service, Mike presented an idea for a video that would help show a portrait of how God has work among His people through Kings, Priests, Prophets and ultimately His Son.

The artist for the video is our Kidsview Director, Jason Smith. He did an amazing job with the artwork. We shot just over 55 minutes of his drawing (freehand) that ended up being condensed to just under 5 minutes of final video. There are spot that the video is running 2500x normal speed.

All told it was a very powerful opening to our Easter service.

Service as Worship

Heyo - welcome to the first entry in this blog! My name is Scott and I work for Eastview Christian Church as their Director of Video Productions. Long story short, I get to play with really cool toys...I mean tools... and work with a great group of volunteers.

This blog will serve mostly to take you behind the scenes of the production work that happens at ECC both in live production and in the studio. I'll try not to get too geeky on you but just a forewarning it'll happen from time to time, just smile and not when I talk about progressive frame rates, overcranking and ramble endlessly about the merits of a good matte box.

We'll start with a piece that was created for a worship service on Service as worship. The two testimonies in this video come from two different different service events. One is from a church wide campaign to give away coats, food and toys in December (this year over 600 families came to take part in the event.) And the other from random acts of service that our college age ministry has done. On a couple of different occasions, they've gone out and just randomly bought gas, dinner, groceries for people. The kingdom impact from those events and the stories of lives touched would take far more space than this blog will allow.

We decided to shoot the testimonies and set up the shoot for the next week, which was perfect because it gave me time to set-up and tinker with some new gear that I had acquired for the Gather Small Group DVD. The format that we went with was a standard interview format, Baker would be asking the questions and the people would talk with him. Pretty straight forward lighting with a key and fill, a rim light to the back left of the subject and a gelled background light. You can see everything but the rim light in the shot.

I'm shooting on a Sony PMW EX1 with the Letus Ultimate 35mm adapter, which allows for incredible images that look very filmlike.
